It has been a very restful time,and gave me a chance to catch up on some housework. I have enjoyed cooking this last week,and haven't felt like I was in a rush to get something on the table to eat. Here is the menu for this week:

Breakfasts:
Cereal
Eggs & bacon
Smoothies
yogurt & fruit

Lunches:
Usually leftovers, or sammies

Supper/Dinner:
Monday: Roasted Chicken, Sweet Potatoes, Salad, Fresh Pineapple,Choc Cake
Tuesday: Crockpot Ham & Beans, Cornbread
Wednesday: Chicken & Noodles,Mashed Potatoes, Veggie
Thursday: Breakfast for Dinner, Oat Pancakes (Recipe to follow), bacon, eggs
Friday: Tacos with trimmings
Saturday: Crockpot Cranberry Porkchops (From $5 Dinners Cookbook), Sweet Potatoes, Cabbage, green beans
Sunday: Lasagna (stouffers) & Salad

Oat pancakes
(Gluten Free and delicious!) Start the night before!

Ingredients:

2 cups oat flour
2 cups of buttermilk, yogurt or sour cream

1 tsp. baking soda (sodium bicarbonate)
1/2 tsp. sea salt
1/4 melted butter (can use as little as 2 Tblsp butter)
2 large eggs
1 tsp. vanilla extract or scrapings from a half a vanilla bean
water for thinning

Directions:

Mix oat flour and buttermilk and let sit in warm place over night.

Stir in all other ingredients. Add water to make desired consistency.

Cook on hot oiled griddle or cast iron skillet.

Some recipes say you can mix the whole thing together the day before and let sit in refrigerator for 12-24 hours. I have not tried it that way.

Check out Orgjunkie, for more menu plans!

A Honey Of A Quilt Show!

Today is the last day of the quilt show. We are having a great time, and the resort that the show is being held at is GORGEOUS! Hubby and I have never been here. I think we will be making a bit of a pilgrimage up here for some "us" time. The resort is right on the edge of Rathbun Lake, and has some beautiful scenery.
If you missed the show, maybe you can think about coming next year. Or, rather I am. Made a pot of goulash tonite, kind of an improvised stove top lasagna. It was good with some salad.
I need to do an inventory of my cupboards and see what supplies (food) we have on hand. I do have my menu made out for the week. I am just posting suppers this week. Breakfasts are usually a pick of the normal things, and lunch varies greatly from left-overs to making something for sammies,and all that lies in between. So hear you go:

Breakfasts: eggs, bacon, pancakes, french toast, cereals(still have alot of that), smoothies,etc.
Lunches: Sammies, left-overs, fruits/veggies.
Suppers/Dinners: (will rotate around)
Turkey stirfry with rice
Breakfast for supper (Oatmeal Pancakes,eggs, bacon)
Turkey and noodles with mashed Potatoes
Hamburgers and Fries
Chicken Tortilla Soup
Beans & Cornbread
Chicken Broccoli Curry Casserole, Sw. Pototoes

Will include veggies in this, but like to be a little spontaneous with that part.
Good Eats to Everyone this week!

Under The Weather......

Feeling a little sickly today. A Nite Off!

Came home from work this morning.....the weather as of late has been warming, so with that comes melting, and with that comes MUD! I detest mud, but it is a sign of spring, so I will deal with it. Got home, fixed the hubs breakfast, and looked for myself something to eat. Found nothing appealing, so I headed to my bed with the electric blanket---what a wonderful invention! (smiles)
Awoke this evening (I require a lot of sleep it seems), and viewed my menu plan to see what was on it. Well, it seems Bill & I had decided on this dish, but upon looking at my printed recipe I neglected to purchase some of the ingredients--like Bisquick! So, I looked on one of my fav recipe sites, and found a recipe that was close, but did I want to go to that much trouble? *still kinda tired* Well, I decided to take the easy way out, and we really don't need the added calories of breading--right?--so I cooked my talapia in a skillet sprayed with PAM. Of all the fish in the world, I believe talapia is one of my favs. With it, we had roasted potato strips, green beans, and spinach. Two veggies because hubby with rather eat nothing than have to eat green beans, and son is just the opposite. Dessert was brownies that I had made a couple of days ago. It is a COLD day here in Northern Missouri. I used to "wish" for this weather---What Was I Think'in? I am still working my nite job, and at the store when I can be. Haven't done alot of sewing recently, but my plans are to change that very soon. In March, the store is vendoring at "Honey Creek Resort" on the19th & 20th. The Centerville, IA,guild has a quilt show, and we didnt get to vendor last year. So mom and I are pretty excited about it.
Health wise, the family is doing ok. Bill is staying healthy this year so far. I was admitted to the hospital with Chest pain on Christmas Eve--I know,what a way to spend the Holiday--but it subsided, and there was no damage to my heart, so I am very blessed. The kids are doing great--Ashley is still in KC, and for the moment Jerad is living at home.
I did just recently get the quilt shoppe on facebook,so look up "Stitch-N-Tyme" and like us so you get all the news happening there. Still working on getting it online sometime soon, so watch for that announcement there.
Miss all my online buddies, hope to reconnect with some of you in person someday.
Hugs,
Deb

Operation Christmas Child

I just LOVE, LOVE being involved in Operation Christmas Child. Hubby did have a second MI (heart attack) the middle of July. His stent that was placed in March was already 70% blocked so they said bypass was the only option at this time. So last Tuesday he had a triple bypass. He is in the hospital where I work, and is gaining strength everyday. They say he may get to come home Monday. I feel very blessed to still have him here, and never so scared in my life than those moments that he was in surgery. Now, I just need to get back to the normalcy of life--whatever that is? I dont quite remember--LOL.

If you have been trying to reach me via email, my computer access was shut off by hubby and I in early July. Son had wedding cancelled, and we did not like to have to read some of his things he was posting on the web, so we pulled the plug for lack of better words. Things are looking better for him--finishing school in the fall, and he got a job--starts monday! Yippee! Hope to have internet again soon tho.

wanted to post about a give away going on at a blog i frequent "My Litter of Six". Just recently, a few friends helped me rekindle my love for cardmaking, scrapbooking, papercrafting. Never fail tho, my first love is quilting and always will be.
I find it facinating that some of the designers of fabrics, are also scrapbook paper/crafting designers also. What a small world. Some that I have seen are Heather Bailey, and Basic Grey! Well, seems I am in good company.
Want to tell you about a scrapbooking blog I have been logging into recently--Keepsakes By Melissa. She is a great designer of cards.
I went to Micheals today on my way home from my college boy. I just love that place, and love the remodeling they have done (I haven't been to this particular one for over a year). I perused the sale items, and came home with quite a bunch. The thing is, I go back down that way in about a week and a half! I did some lookie looing, and will be getting some other things then.
I would like to get a cricut, but not sure which i should get. For any of you scrapbookers out there, what is the best one for my buck(s). The saleslady at Micheals told me to wait and get it with a % off coupon, so signed up for those too today. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! I cant wait till I get my paradise, I mean craft room, done! It will be a scrapbooking and quilting heaven.
Let me know if you have found other scrapbooking blogs! I would love to look at them.
Hugs,

Baby It's Cold Outside!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_9hXlNWg7npw/SVAtWyiLXAI/AAAAAAAAAFw/DOtq4a_uuLQ/s320/snowbirdonshovel.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5282772232451087362" />
Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
That is all I can say. Seems hubby and I live in an ice belt! When we dont get snow, we then get ice. I wouldn't mind it if I could stay inside all day. But, a girl has to work! Doggies even think it is cold. I have to shoo them outside to take care of their business. Just remember.........weenie dogs do not like the cold! Any kind of cold! LOL.

Today I worked with mom at the Quilt Shop! I finally got to venture out after the storm. We had fun. I finished up some gifts, and some orders we had to make, and kits to get together. Also, getting ready for my first beginners class. This is going to be so much fun! Calling it "Quilting 101". The evening class is full, and the day class is half full! The gals that have signed up are really excited! With my job changing, this is going to be a fun time! We are going to make a sampler quilt, and learn some basics before we begin! I love to teach quilting--I guess it is because it's my passion.

Hubby is watching some crazy sci fi movie! Whatever keeps him entertained I guess.
I need to get busy and sew on the binding on another little quilt. I should be done with it tonite, or get up a bit early tomorrow and finish the hand sewing then.

I am getting excited! Dh and I plan to go shopping tomorrow evening, but it is suppose to snow again tonite an sleet tomorrow! UggggH! Work tomorrow at my real job, and then the next day too. Off Christmas, and then back to work on the 26th--YIPPEE--NOT! I do get the weekend off. Thought I would share some photos of some things I have made in the Christmas' in the past. A little eye candy to get the creative juices flowing.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 170px; height: 320px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_9hXlNWg7npw/SVArEjK5cUI/AAAAAAAAAFY/RejtQL6mxsE/s320/alicestocking.gif" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5282769720066011458" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 189px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_9hXlNWg7npw/SVArQjWYNUI/AAAAAAAAAFg/0633DAayAXw/s320/BPFstocking.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5282769926272595266" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 274px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_9hXlNWg7npw/SVAri77Vm5I/AAAAAAAAAFo/SOzCIa9U7o0/s320/FlurriesForever.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5282770242107710354" />

5 days till Christmas!!!

Wow, what a few days it has been since I have posted! Whew! I have been busy at the Quilt Shoppe! Did some classes there this month. It was so much fun. We made a prim ornie that I developed a couple of years ago! And, a Stocking Snowman Pin that I had recieved as a gift a few years ago. The gals sure enjoyed them.
Things have changed on the job front too. I have been an Infection Control Nurse/Employee Health Nurse/Staff Education Development Coord. for the past 2½ years. With the Quilt Shop being opened now, the job and my duties at the shop have taken a toll on me. Oh, I was also taking call a week during the month. So, I have given up the desk job, and am going back to the floor for a while. My wish is to go full time at the shoppe sometime soon, but that will be awhile. It will be so much better to only work 3 twelve hour shifts, then to work 5 full time days at the desk job. I am happy about my decision, and hope that this will give me the opportunity to design more too.

The house is decorated-------well mostly. College boy came up the other nite (late-during an ice storm), and he has been stuck here for a couple of days. I dont mind at all, but I think he is getting bored. Nice to have college boy home for a few days. I miss him, and so does his father.

I want to tell you about a give away at:

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 196px; height: 230px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_9hXlNWg7npw/SU18zYH_LaI/AAAAAAAAAFA/7TJUnpNjvt8/s320/wreath1.gif" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5282015160066583970" />

Sounds like a great one, and one I am happy to get a chance at.

I did not make any of my christmas gifts this year. I feel very sad about that, as I love to do that. But, with the opening of the quilt shop and working full time at another job, it just didnt happen. Starting the new year tho, I am going gang busters on making my gifts for next year.

Well, just wanted to wish you all the merriest of all Christmas' this year! I miss you all, and hope that in 2009 we can see each other sometime! Here is a little gift from me to you! She is named "SNOW SUE~BERRY". You may resize her, and make gifts from the design. Isn't it so appropriate for the upcoming elections. Ok, that is all I am saying about politics!

Had a kinda good week. Found out we don't get our building for the quilt shoppe until October 31! This is a bit frustrating, but what is starting a quilt shoppe without a few frustrations. We will be opening on November 7, 2008! We are excited about that, but wanted time to make some changes before opening. Well, the show must go on as they say. Lots of fabric coming weekly!

Work has had its trials this week also. But what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger right? Well, I at least have part of my backside left! I pray for the day when the only "work" I have is in my quilt shoppe! Pray for me please!

Ford Hubby and Ford son are home for tonite. They leave again tomorrow. I miss them when they are gone. The doggies keep me company, or is it the other way around?

I head out this coming Wednesday for the Des Moines APQS show! Yeehaw! I am sharing a hotel room with a couple of other gals! I can't wait to go and see the quilts, and what is new and "HOT" in the quilt world. Oh, and I will love the vendors. I will let you know when I return what goodies I got! One of the gals and I are going to see Mark Lapinski(sp?)on Friday nite! I have heard he is a hoot. Can't wait to see for myself!

Have a great weekend!

My Store Logo (The font is actually Freestyle, but it will not show up on my screen):

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_9hXlNWg7npw/SOWDr_ZA7kI/AAAAAAAAAEE/UIgx_IoWhW8/s320/UnionStarBlockNew1.gif" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5252749332171517506" />

Stitch-N-Tyme

WINNERS!!!!

Sorry for my lateness with this post. I was visiting my son at the tech school he is attending, and being the wonderful momma that I am I was making his favorite sweet potato dish, and low and behold, lookie lou to what I did! Did i mention, that I hate cutting sweet potatoes because I am always afraid of cutting myself?

After finding out that the little po dunk town that his tech school is in does not have medical services available on weekends, we traveled to the next largest town and after 3 hours in the emergency room, I became the proud owner of 4 brand new stitches. This pic was actually taken today, and this happened last weekend.
I get my stitches out next Thursday! Yippee! (Oh bother, like pooh would say!)

News on the Quilt Shop opening front! The building had hail damage, and that resulted in a VERY leaky roof. We do not have possession yet. So the current owners had to take care of that. We now have a new roof on the building, and a garantee for 2 years on it. So we are happy about that. Looks like we won't get possession until sometime in the later part of October. We are still getting lots of bolts of fabric in! I am looking into getting the shop up on the web soon also.

So much to do and so little time. I am currently trying to work on shop samples when I am not working at my current job (RN at local hospital). Trying to decide on the layout of the shop, what walls need to come down, etc. I hope to get a pic up of the shop front at some point, then I will put pics up as we do the remodel.

Got my order from Primitives By Kathy. Ordered some note pads and a display piece. It is soooooooooooo cute! I am just busting with excitement! I am also marketing my own patterns at the quilt shop when it opens too! I sold two at a Summer Fest in July, and the gals are working on them now. It excites me to see what fabrics others use with my patterns. I have a friend that is helping me with the writing of the patterns once they are designed. This person wants to stay anonymous for now, but I want to give her a big THANKS here! Here they are:

<embed src="http://p.webshots.com/flash/smallslideshow.swf" flashvars="playList=http%3A%2F%2Fcommunity.webshots.com%2Fslideshow%2Fmeta%2F566922463YJLRYo%3Finline%3Dtrue&inlineUrl=http%3A%2F%2Fcommunity.webshots.com%2FinlinePhoto%3FalbumId%3D566922463%26src%3Ds%26referPage%3Dhttp%3A%2F%2Fhome-and-garden.webshots.com%2Fslideshow%2F566922463YJLRYo&postRollContent=http%3A%2F%2Fp.webshots.com%2Fflash%2Fws_postroll.swf&shareUrl=http%3A%2F%2Fhome-and-garden.webshots.com%2Fslideshow%2F566922463YJLRYo&audio=on&audioVolume=33&autoPlay=false&transitionSpeed=5&startIndex=0&panzoom=on&deployed=true" menu="false" quality="best" width="425" height="384" name="WebshotsSlideshowPlayer"base="http%3A%2F%2Fp.webshots.com%2Fflash%2F" wmode="opaque" allowScriptAccess="always" loop="false" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http%3A%2F%2Fwww.macromedia.com%2Fgo%2Fgetflashplayer">

The Firecracker Quilt pattern is a minature, and the Fall Frenzy is a larger quilt, and charm pack friendly.
Leave a comment on this post and I will draw a a couple of winners, one for each pattern next weekend!

See You Soon!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://quilterinthewoods.blogspot.com/2008/09/danger-will-robinson-danger.html' title='DANGER! I have been up to my eyeballs busy for the last couple of weeks! First is my job. Been going to a few meetings and such . Then, for the big news, I am opening up a QUILT SHOP with my mother in November. We have the building, but have to wait on the people that are now in it to move out. Which isnt till November. So we have time to get inventory. But, the starting up of a new shoppe is a new one for us. So it is slow going. Brought home alot of stuff for $39. I got 2 washtubs on stands, silverware, wood drying rack, 2 magazine racks, white with red trim enamel chamber pot, and a white wall cabinet. I wanted a very prim library table, but didnt get it. DARN! Oh well, there will be other things i want just as much. Just wanted to let you know that ange at The Country Cellar is having a give away today. After, the auction I went to my parents and caught a snooze on the couch. Came home fixed supper for the dh and ds. Now we are watching a movie--Spiderman 3, and ds is sleeping--he has to work in the early AM. So dh and I are having some down time.
I sent a quilt off to be quilted by Cotie! She is fantastic at quilting, and good prices. Check her out! This quilt is for a friend mother whose house burnt down. The top was donated to me, and I got the backing together. It is pieced florals. I will post a pic when I get it back. Will also try to post my treasures from the auction today. One of my bestest friends Nina drove down from Wisconsin to spend the nite. She is all tucked in bed. Final wash is in the washer, and I am pretty near to hitting my head on the ole pillow for a whole 5 hours of sleep. We are off to Winslow, Arkansas tomorrow, for 5 fun filled days of sewing, visiting, quilting, and stitching with our online buddies. I hope you all have a fun filled weekend too!
Hugs,
deb

Final Count of Quilt A Thon

Once again, thanks Judy L @ Patchwork Times. Thanks for getting my pa tootie in gear this weekend. If I had not been visiting your blog, I am sure I would have sit in front of the TV thinking about all of the things I could be doing! LOL. My fav past time. Anywho! Here is what I finally accomplished as of 9:50 P.M.:

1. Finished the boy charity flimsy, and I got the flannel back sewn together (using left over bits and pieces of flannel that have been around for ages). This is ready to be put on moms quilter at the end of this week and begin life as a quilt!

2. While finding flannel for boy charity quilt, I decided I needed to widdle down my flannel tub. E-gads, I think the fabric in there propagated (sp?)--LOL. I got 12- twelve inch blocks finished, and 8 more over halfway finished. If there is time this week after work, I will try to get that top together! Oh, the freedom this brings!

3. Out of other left over flannel projects, I have started blocks for a baby quilt--still just blocks! And, I have sewn 6 nine inch flannel blocks into a rectangle--thinking pillowcase here, or dog bed.

Sorry no pics, just too pooped to do that. Well, better go in and chat with hubby before heading off to bed. This has been fun! And, it has been fun to read about all of your adventures too!

debbers

Sunday Check in For Quilt-A-Thon

I just love how Judy L. has us all connected with this Quilt-A-Thon. Well, I knew I would sleep in today, but 11:00 A.M. is a little much for me this weekend! I went and put the flannal fabric that I put in the washer last nite prior to going to bed, in the dryer.
Then I went in to the sewing room, and was getting things rallied around for the day. My good intentions of pulling together the flannel backing for the boy charity quilt this morning went awry, I started putting together some crumb flannel blocks. I didnt realize how easy and addicting these crumb blocks are! I read thru Bonnie's (@ quiltville)site, and it just took off from there. Why oh why was I in my flannel tub? Well, I have to find one long piece to go in the middle of 2 pieces for the back of the charity quilt. And, now it's 2:00 P.M. My, where does the time go? Not sure if this will be a quilt for dh, or if it will be another charity? I just want to rid myself of my over abundance of small fabric--but, make something useful in the process.
Also, while digging in the flannel bin, I found some blocks, and other stuff, so I am contemplating what do do with them. I am thinking about making a pillow case from 6 blocks that match--they are all sewn together, and then I am putting together some baby blocks also. I will need a border for this as it is all pastels--think minkee here..........but those are all in a baggy to take with me to retreat, and if we get to stop at a store, then I will look for a border then.
Right now, I am taking a break. Making dh and I a late lunch. We are having left over Goulash from last night, and some cornbread muffins. Yummy, I am getting hungry.
So to update my fellow quilt-a-thoners, I am doing things, but not quite in the order that I intended--LOL. I will post pics later. Ok, off to eat. I hope you are all advancing on whatever you are working on.
Debbers

Quilt-a-thon

Well,
I had completely forgot about this, but did manage to get something done tonite for it. I am working on a couple of quilts for charity for when i go on retreat in May. I now have a boy and girl top done. I used a pattern from Wickedly Easy Quilts. It is very easy, and I am able to use up some of my kids fabric that is in pieces at the moment. I plan to get another girls quilt done to have on hand.
I am hoping to go to mom's tomorrow to quilt the boy quilt. I plan to get the two quilts quilted, and binding on to sew on while I go to the Winslow Quilting Retreat a week from this coming Wed. Oh, I cant wait.
I need to get the backing put together for the boys quilt in the A.M. so that will keep me busy then.
I also cleaned off my cutting station. So happy I could dance on that one. Go and visit her if you get a chance and get in on her blog adventures.
Came home and made potato soup---my absolute favorite easy meal. DH had one of those pocket thingy meals. He likes them, and it was easy. I am on call tonite, so anything easy will do. I keep thinking about going and sew, or embroidery, but my feet never move in that direction. What is the world coming too????????
Did some YAK today--cleaned the house. Jerad, my son, is contemplating moving out on his own soon, and the hospital where I work is having a tent sale for Relay to Life in a couple of months, so I want to clean out things i won't use, or have stored for an enternity, and have still not used. DD still stores some of her things here, but they will be going down to her in a few months too. Ahhhhhhhhhh, can you hear it---a sparkling clean house? LOL. Well, it wont be that easy. We are still looking at some remodeling projects too. So, it will be moving day around here for awhile (moving things from room to room). We are going to work on my quilt studio/bedroom first. Then the kitchen (AGAIN), and then the bathroom. Those are only at the top of my list. So it will still be slow going, but now when I see a mess, i know only my dh and I have made it. LOL.
On the quilting homefront today. I email a gal that does some quilting for me, and will be sending her a quilt soon--not for me, it is a gift for a friend that house burnt down. Hopefully it will bring a little light to her day. Then, i cut out some purple blocks from different fabric for another quilt. I think i will send that to Cotie at a later date. Then I need to get backing for another quilt done to take with me to retreat to drop off for another gal to quilt. Whew, I am tired already, and honeys this is only the tip of the iceberg! YIKES!
Retreat is only two weeks away, and I want to get my things together for it! Hoping to take some binding along for the road trips--always make the time go by faster.
later gators!
Debbers

COLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLD February!

Well, here I am. One month later, but I am back. Work seems to keep me busy. I love my job, but boy it cuts into my play time.
I did get a chance to go to Pella, IA last weekend. It was my first visit, and I loved it. I hope to go back during the Tulip Festival. I love the architecture of the building on the square. Friends and I were shopping for some fabric for a Relay to Life quilt that we offered to sew for donations. It is gorgeous, and we went with the colors of the teams this year. They are jewel tone red, blue, and purple. I will post the pic soon if I can.
I am also trying to clean up my sewing room. We plan to start on some remodeling projects in there next month. So, I am packing up some fabrics and other what nots so that they don't get dusty and I dont lose them.
The Winslow, Arkansas retreat is coming up March 12-16. I am so excited. A friend from Wisconsin is coming down to spend the nite, and we will take off the morning of the twelveth. Yeehaw!
Just placed an order with Connecting Threads. They have free shipping this weekend. I can't wait till I get it.
Well, need to sign off! I have been cutting up my scraps into different size squares and rectangles. It is a chore, but I am getting there, and filling up a bag for strip blocks too. It is slow, but the hare didnt win the race, or did he?
We were altogether for Christmas: dh, me, Ash, Jerad. We had a great time, all tho the visit was short. Ash had to head back to KC the next day, but we savor the time we have with her. Jerad told us something tonite, much to my dismay. I know it is a good thing, but a mom worries--it is my perogitive right? He is thinking about joining the NAVY. Hard for me to even type. I know I shouldnt worry it is in God's hands, but like I said it is a mom's right. Bill and I have talked, but not in length. He knows my feelings as does Jerad, but it is my son's decision, he is a man now, so I will turn it over to God.
We are still thinking about moving to CA. This winter has been hard on both Bill and I. It is nearly below zero tonite. The doggies dont even want to stay out very long, so you know it is cold. We keep the home fire burning, but man, I think the coldness seeps in everywhere.
I will be glad for my trip to CA in a week and a half, that is sure. I am going to spend some time with my girlfriend, and we are going to the Road to CA Quilt show in Ontario, CA. I can not wait. I have wanted to do this for a few years and this year I have finally been able to do it. I am leaving the 11th, and flying out there. It will be soooooooooooooooo much fun, and warm! LOL.
I am reading a book by Nora Roberts--it is a trilogy I think. The first one is called Night Shift. It is pretty good.
Well, better get. Work tomorrow, and then probably cut out more fabric tomorrow nite. I found this pattern:

http://www.byannie.com/images/wickedly_easy_quilts_patterns.pdf

so cutting up fabric for a couple of charity quilts for a retreat I am going to in May. It is in Indiana. I have been going everytime except for once, and was so sorry to miss it, my my mil was very ill, and we flew to CA to see her. I hope to post when they are finished. Will probably take me a month to a month and a half.
Bye for now,
debbers

Long Time No See!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I am back. It has been so long since i posted, but so much going on in my life. I know yada, yada! LOL. Anywho, spent friday sick at home with a BAD sinus infection. Through the weekend passing, I am getting over it slowly. Yesterday, I was so bored. I managed to get out of bed, and work on some shirts i got on clearance over the summer for my great nieces, and a great nephew. I embroidered them with some fun sayings.
We are going out to eat in a few minutes and wanted to pop on here and show them too you. I hope to stop by their house on the way and give them to them. I hope they like them. It is getting cool here, but I think they will have time to wear them.

<embed src="http://p.webshots.com/flash/smallslideshow.swf" flashvars="playList=http%3A%2F%2Fcommunity.webshots.com%2Fslideshow%2Fmeta%2F560890584dUWUhG%3Finline%3Dtrue&inlineUrl=http%3A%2F%2Fcommunity.webshots.com%2FinlinePhoto%3FalbumId%3D560890584%26src%3Ds%26referPage%3Dhttp%3A%2F%2Fgood-times.webshots.com%2Fslideshow%2F560890584dUWUhG&postRollContent=http%3A%2F%2Fp.webshots.com%2Fflash%2Fws_postroll.swf&shareUrl=http%3A%2F%2Fgood-times.webshots.com%2Fslideshow%2F560890584dUWUhG&audio=on&audioVolume=33&autoPlay=false&transitionSpeed=5&startIndex=0&panzoom=on&deployed=true" menu="false" quality="best" width="425" height="384" name="WebshotsSlideshowPlayer"base="http%3A%2F%2Fp.webshots.com%2Fflash%2F" wmode="opaque" allowScriptAccess="always" loop="false" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http%3A%2F%2Fwww.macromedia.com%2Fgo%2Fgetflashplayer">

My Embroidery Projects

Hugs,
debbers

Get 'er Done!

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_9hXlNWg7npw/Rc9eipKDm3I/AAAAAAAAACE/iOgyVV_ZyFI/s320/RedworkRndRobin.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5030343258052729714" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_9hXlNWg7npw/Rc9eipKDm4I/AAAAAAAAACM/SbIofsJlqEU/s320/SnowballCharity.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5030343258052729730" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_9hXlNWg7npw/Rc9ei5KDm5I/AAAAAAAAACU/r3oGb7aCsys/s320/AmericanaQlt.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5030343262347697042" />
Well, I have been pretty busy. When i get home from work, you will usually find me cutting (as I was stating in my last post) or sewing! I feel like I have accomplished so much in January. The above pics are proof! My goal this month, is to continue to plug away at cutting scraps, and to also do one of the older quilts that has been looming for some time. It is for my son. Can you hear, I started this quilt in 1989. I did get the wallhanging done, but the quilt top sits, with blocks done, and part of the sashing put on the blocks, but the remainder needs to be put together. Also, I need to finish a baby quilt that the blocks are done, and work on some "little quilts" that were a gift to my dd years ago (shameful i know). They are calendar quilts, and I have 3 done, and only 9 more to go.
I worked yesterday with my quilt club girls! We all got together for a fun day of fellowship, and each made a turning twenty quilt. I have all my top done, except for the small strip border. And, yes all from my scrap cutting! Isnt that wonderful? Times flies when you are having fun. I had a bday last week! Hubby took me out for steak. For some reason, and he has done this for years, I get no gift! ARGGGH! But, I am going to go and get me a couple of DVD's, and order some other gifties online~embroidery stitch outs, and some clipart for quilt labels. Then wrap them, and tell him to give them too me. I dont think it will make a difference to him, but it will make me feel better.
It has been so icy here for the last couple of days. Good weather to stay inside. I have been going thru my BAGSSSSSSSSS of scraps, and am cutting them up into manageable pieces. I have made so much headway! I am down to a bag of strips for strip piecing, a bag of smaller pieces, and another bag of strips to cut for lasagne quilts, and other strip quilts. I am cutting them into squares of various sizes and then strips for certain quilts that I have in mind. I am also cutting up some fabrics for a VERY scrappy Turning Twenty quilt. I feel so great to have as much done as I do. I am anxious to start on the quilts now. I have the ideas buzzing around in my head already!!!!
I went thru my charity fabrics, and I passing them on to other ladies that do things for Project linus. It is really freeing. And, now they will get finished and be able to warm kids like they are suppose too. I had some blocks from various swaps that I have had swappers send in for charity, and those are going too! I have 2 charity quilts here to finish and that is on my agenda as soon as the scraps are cut up. I think another couple of weeks and the scraps should be "history".
I also threw away alot of VCR tapes that we had taped eons ago. Was talking with dh and asked him if he thought we could as we are replacing most of them. But, we kept a large tote of tapes that we had bought, and then there are some in a dresser also. I will be purging these to my dd as we replace them with DVD's. I tell you, I am cleaning house--literally!
I have also been reading "Endless Chain" by Emily Richards. Nice story. I have so many books to read also, and then pass them on. I am not a very fast reader, as i do so only when in bed at night. I am lucky to get a chapter done each night. I am about 2/3 done with this book.
Well, better get, work again tomorrow. Love my job, but gosh, wish I could just have a 4 day work week..................YEah, I could find plenty to keep myself busy that extra day--LOL.
No pics to post, but hope to get a few things done this week, so maybe next time.
Hugs!

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Ok, I have tried this two other times, and wham, bam, i lose it. So here it goes. LOL. Had a great Christmas! All the family was here: Ashley, Jerad, Bill, and Myself. We celebrated our family Christmas on Christmas Eve, and with the larger family (my side, as Bill's sisters live so far away, and his mom passed last December) today. Lots of food, fellowship, and fun! The presents were awesome also, but we are humbled by the REAL REASON FOR THE SEASON, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

I couldn't get much into the Christmas Season this year. I have had trouble with my knee since vacation in November. A couple of trips to the doc to find out that I do have a small tear, but that surgicially repairing it will not help me. My MRI shows that I need a total knee replacement soon as the cartilage on one side of my knee is near gone! YIKES!!! But first the docs want me to lose weight, but by thier way--LAP BAND surgery. No way Jose! Thanks very much, but I can do it on my own. Just have to get way more serious now, as if I dont get it off I will be having the surgery sooner than I would like. The docs would like for me to wait a few years before I get the replacement, because, thier life span is about 20 years, so by the time I am 65 years old, I could be looking at another. I think i will opt for the weight loss.

Work is going good! We may be looking at moving in the next year or so. I hate to leave here, but my dh health would be so much better if we were somewhere warmer and drier! We are shooting for about a year and a half to totally be out there. DH and son may move a few months prior to me, but we will see.

My embroidery machine has been smoking the last week or so. I stitched on some shirts for the great neices and nephews! It was so fun! Now, I have two quilts waiting on me to be bound! I cant wait to get them done, as one is a round robin made by some dear friends, and the other is a combo of a couple of swaps from SMSwaps forum. Afraid no pics yet.

I think we will be working on some jobs around the house--need to if we are going to sell! So that will be our priority now. Gotta get the bucks, because the housing sure isnt cheap in CA. LOL.

Here is hoping you and yours had a Wonderful Holy-day Season! I managed to get a few goodies in my bag today. I will be making some stocking for some foster children so picked up some novelty fabric for that. Then cabbaged on to some RED minkee for a sweatshirt I am making for a dear friend that gave me a thimble that she got while on vacation this summer. I then came back to my friends house and we ate the most wonderful Indian dish. It was flavored with curry--one of my fav spices. Then, we settled in to sew for awhile. I did more embroidery than anything. Did the little snowman and stars on a teatowel. I think it turned out so purty! Then I stitched out some more snowmen. First I stitch them out on recycled jean fabric, and then on the item/fabric I want the final stitchout to be on. I plan on making a rag quilt with all the jean snowmen that I stitch out. I will post when I do. I also put the binding on a quilt for someone special for Christmas. I hope to have it done by this week. Whew! Will I ever get it all done?
