Weekend!

Went to an auction today and got some things. Brought home alot of stuff for $39. I got 2 washtubs on stands, silverware, wood drying rack, 2 magazine racks, white with red trim enamel chamber pot, and a white wall cabinet. I wanted a very prim library table, but didnt get it. DARN! Oh well, there will be other things i want just as much. Just wanted to let you know that ange at The Country Cellar is having a give away today. After, the auction I went to my parents and caught a snooze on the couch. Came home fixed supper for the dh and ds. Now we are watching a movie--Spiderman 3, and ds is sleeping--he has to work in the early AM. So dh and I are having some down time.
I sent a quilt off to be quilted by Cotie! She is fantastic at quilting, and good prices. Check her out! This quilt is for a friend mother whose house burnt down. The top was donated to me, and I got the backing together. It is pieced florals. I will post a pic when I get it back. Will also try to post my treasures from the auction today. Later gators.

RETREAT DAY 11/12/08

Hi ho, Hi ho, its off to Winslow for retreat we go! One of my bestest friends Nina drove down from Wisconsin to spend the nite. She is all tucked in bed. Final wash is in the washer, and I am pretty near to hitting my head on the ole pillow for a whole 5 hours of sleep. We are off to Winslow, Arkansas tomorrow, for 5 fun filled days of sewing, visiting, quilting, and stitching with our online buddies. I hope you all have a fun filled weekend too!
Hugs,

Final Count of Quilt A Thon

Once again, thanks Judy L @ Patchwork Times. Thanks for getting my pa tootie in gear this weekend. If I had not been visiting your blog, I am sure I would have sit in front of the TV thinking about all of the things I could be doing! LOL. My fav past time. Anywho! Here is what I finally accomplished as of 9:50 P.M.:

1. Finished the boy charity flimsy, and I got the flannel back sewn together (using left over bits and pieces of flannel that have been around for ages). This is ready to be put on moms quilter at the end of this week and begin life as a quilt!

2. While finding flannel for boy charity quilt, I decided I needed to widdle down my flannel tub. E-gads, I think the fabric in there propagated (sp?)--LOL. I got 12- twelve inch blocks finished, and 8 more over halfway finished. If there is time this week after work, I will try to get that top together! Oh, the freedom this brings!

3. Out of other left over flannel projects, I have started blocks for a baby quilt--still just blocks! And, I have sewn 6 nine inch flannel blocks into a rectangle--thinking pillowcase here, or dog bed.

Sorry no pics, just too pooped to do that. Well, better go in and chat with hubby before heading off to bed. This has been fun! And, it has been fun to read about all of your adventures too!

Sunday Check in For Quilt-A-Thon

I just love how Judy L. has us all connected with this Quilt-A-Thon. Well, I knew I would sleep in today, but 11:00 A.M. is a little much for me this weekend! I went and put the flannal fabric that I put in the washer last nite prior to going to bed, in the dryer.
Then I went in to the sewing room, and was getting things rallied around for the day. My good intentions of pulling together the flannel backing for the boy charity quilt this morning went awry, I started putting together some crumb flannel blocks. I didnt realize how easy and addicting these crumb blocks are! I read thru Bonnie's (@ quiltville)site, and it just took off from there. Why oh why was I in my flannel tub? Well, I have to find one long piece to go in the middle of 2 pieces for the back of the charity quilt. And, now it's 2:00 P.M. My, where does the time go? Not sure if this will be a quilt for dh, or if it will be another charity? I just want to rid myself of my over abundance of small fabric--but, make something useful in the process.
Also, while digging in the flannel bin, I found some blocks, and other stuff, so I am contemplating what do do with them. I am thinking about making a pillow case from 6 blocks that match--they are all sewn together, and then I am putting together some baby blocks also. I will need a border for this as it is all pastels--think minkee here..........but those are all in a baggy to take with me to retreat, and if we get to stop at a store, then I will look for a border then.
Right now, I am taking a break. Making dh and I a late lunch. We are having left over Goulash from last night, and some cornbread muffins. Yummy, I am getting hungry.
So to update my fellow quilt-a-thoners, I am doing things, but not quite in the order that I intended--LOL. I will post pics later. Ok, off to eat. I hope you are all advancing on whatever you are working on.

Quilt-a-thon

Well,
I had completely forgot about this, but did manage to get something done tonite for it. I am working on a couple of quilts for charity for when i go on retreat in May. I now have a boy and girl top done. I used a pattern from Wickedly Easy Quilts. It is very easy, and I am able to use up some of my kids fabric that is in pieces at the moment. I plan to get another girls quilt done to have on hand.
I am hoping to go to mom's tomorrow to quilt the boy quilt. I plan to get the two quilts quilted, and binding on to sew on while I go to the Winslow Quilting Retreat a week from this coming Wed. Oh, I cant wait.
I need to get the backing put together for the boys quilt in the A.M. so that will keep me busy then.
I also cleaned off my cutting station. So happy I could dance on that one. Well later gators, need to get some shut eye!

I am on a roll...................

Just visiting some other blogs and came upon one that is doing a give away. It is at Nikki's Blog. Go and visit her if you get a chance and get in on her blog adventures.
Came home and made potato soup---my absolute favorite easy meal. DH had one of those pocket thingy meals. He likes them, and it was easy. I am on call tonite, so anything easy will do. I keep thinking about going and sew, or embroidery, but my feet never move in that direction. I am tired, so will call it a nite!

Don't Fall Over!

I know, I know, 2 posts in one week, and not very many days from one another! What is the world coming too????????
Did some YAK today--cleaned the house. Jerad, my son, is contemplating moving out on his own soon, and the hospital where I work is having a tent sale for Relay to Life in a couple of months, so I want to clean out things i won't use, or have stored for an enternity, and have still not used. DD still stores some of her things here, but they will be going down to her in a few months too. Ahhhhhhhhhh, can you hear it---a sparkling clean house? LOL. Well, it wont be that easy. We are still looking at some remodeling projects too. So, it will be moving day around here for awhile (moving things from room to room). We are going to work on my quilt studio/bedroom first. Then the kitchen (AGAIN), and then the bathroom. Those are only at the top of my list. So it will still be slow going, but now when I see a mess, i know only my dh and I have made it. LOL.
On the quilting homefront today. I email a gal that does some quilting for me, and will be sending her a quilt soon--not for me, it is a gift for a friend that house burnt down. Hopefully it will bring a little light to her day. Then, i cut out some purple blocks from different fabric for another quilt. I think i will send that to Cotie at a later date. Then I need to get backing for another quilt done to take with me to retreat to drop off for another gal to quilt. Whew, I am tired already, and honeys this is only the tip of the iceberg! YIKES!
Retreat is only two weeks away, and I want to get my things together for it! Hoping to take some binding along for the road trips--always make the time go by faster.
later gators!

COLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLD February!

Well, here I am. One month later, but I am back. Work seems to keep me busy. I love my job, but boy it cuts into my play time.
I did get a chance to go to Pella, IA last weekend. It was my first visit, and I loved it. I hope to go back during the Tulip Festival. I love the architecture of the building on the square. Friends and I were shopping for some fabric for a Relay to Life quilt that we offered to sew for donations. It is gorgeous, and we went with the colors of the teams this year. They are jewel tone red, blue, and purple. I will post the pic soon if I can.
I am also trying to clean up my sewing room. We plan to start on some remodeling projects in there next month. So, I am packing up some fabrics and other what nots so that they don't get dusty and I dont lose them.
The Winslow, Arkansas retreat is coming up March 12-16. I am so excited. A friend from Wisconsin is coming down to spend the nite, and we will take off the morning of the twelveth. Yeehaw!
Just placed an order with Connecting Threads. They have free shipping this weekend. I can't wait till I get it.
Well, need to sign off! Sweet Dreams everyone!

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2008!!!

Good Late nite Everyone,
so much to do, but so little time. I have been cutting up my scraps into different size squares and rectangles. It is a chore, but I am getting there, and filling up a bag for strip blocks too. It is slow, but the hare didnt win the race, or did he?
We were altogether for Christmas: dh, me, Ash, Jerad. We had a great time, all tho the visit was short. Ash had to head back to KC the next day, but we savor the time we have with her. Jerad told us something tonite, much to my dismay. I know it is a good thing, but a mom worries--it is my perogitive right? He is thinking about joining the NAVY. Hard for me to even type. I know I shouldnt worry it is in God's hands, but like I said it is a mom's right. Bill and I have talked, but not in length. He knows my feelings as does Jerad, but it is my son's decision, he is a man now, so I will turn it over to God.
We are still thinking about moving to CA. This winter has been hard on both Bill and I. It is nearly below zero tonite. The doggies dont even want to stay out very long, so you know it is cold. We keep the home fire burning, but man, I think the coldness seeps in everywhere.
I will be glad for my trip to CA in a week and a half, that is sure. I am going to spend some time with my girlfriend, and we are going to the Road to CA Quilt show in Ontario, CA. I can not wait. I have wanted to do this for a few years and this year I have finally been able to do it. I am leaving the 11th, and flying out there. It will be soooooooooooooooo much fun, and warm! LOL.
I am reading a book by Nora Roberts--it is a trilogy I think. The first one is called Night Shift. It is pretty good.
Well, better get. Work tomorrow, and then probably cut out more fabric tomorrow nite. I found this pattern:

http://www.byannie.com/images/wickedly_easy_quilts_patterns.pdf

so cutting up fabric for a couple of charity quilts for a retreat I am going to in May. It is in Indiana. I have been going everytime except for once, and was so sorry to miss it, my my mil was very ill, and we flew to CA to see her. I hope to post when they are finished. Will probably take me a month to a month and a half.
Bye for now,
