Quilt Politics?

I was over at Pickledishquilts the other day and found this cartoon! Isn't it so appropriate for the upcoming elections. Ok, that is all I am saying about politics!

Had a kinda good week. Found out we don't get our building for the quilt shoppe until October 31! This is a bit frustrating, but what is starting a quilt shoppe without a few frustrations. We will be opening on November 7, 2008! We are excited about that, but wanted time to make some changes before opening. Well, the show must go on as they say. Lots of fabric coming weekly!

Work has had its trials this week also. But what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger right? Well, I at least have part of my backside left! I pray for the day when the only "work" I have is in my quilt shoppe! Pray for me please!

Ford Hubby and Ford son are home for tonite. They leave again tomorrow. I miss them when they are gone. The doggies keep me company, or is it the other way around?

I head out this coming Wednesday for the Des Moines APQS show! Yeehaw! I am sharing a hotel room with a couple of other gals! I can't wait to go and see the quilts, and what is new and "HOT" in the quilt world. Oh, and I will love the vendors. I will let you know when I return what goodies I got! One of the gals and I are going to see Mark Lapinski(sp?)on Friday nite! I have heard he is a hoot. Can't wait to see for myself!

Have a great weekend!

DANGER! WIll Robinson! DANGER!

Well, let me tell you, new RADA knives are sharp SHARP! I was visiting my son at the tech school he is attending, and being the wonderful momma that I am I was making his favorite sweet potato dish, and low and behold, lookie lou to what I did! Did i mention, that I hate cutting sweet potatoes because I am always afraid of cutting myself?

After finding out that the little po dunk town that his tech school is in does not have medical services available on weekends, we traveled to the next largest town and after 3 hours in the emergency room, I became the proud owner of 4 brand new stitches. This pic was actually taken today, and this happened last weekend.
I get my stitches out next Thursday! Yippee! (Oh bother, like pooh would say!)

News on the Quilt Shop opening front! The building had hail damage, and that resulted in a VERY leaky roof. We do not have possession yet. So the current owners had to take care of that. We now have a new roof on the building, and a garantee for 2 years on it. So we are happy about that. Looks like we won't get possession until sometime in the later part of October. We are still getting lots of bolts of fabric in! I am looking into getting the shop up on the web soon also.

So much to do and so little time. I am currently trying to work on shop samples when I am not working at my current job (RN at local hospital). Trying to decide on the layout of the shop, what walls need to come down, etc. I hope to get a pic up of the shop front at some point, then I will put pics up as we do the remodel.

Got my order from Primitives By Kathy. Ordered some note pads and a display piece. It is soooooooooooo cute! I am just busting with excitement! I am also marketing my own patterns at the quilt shop when it opens too! I sold two at a Summer Fest in July, and the gals are working on them now. It excites me to see what fabrics others use with my patterns. I have a friend that is helping me with the writing of the patterns once they are designed. This person wants to stay anonymous for now, but I want to give her a big THANKS here! Here they are:

The Firecracker Quilt pattern is a minature, and the Fall Frenzy is a larger quilt, and charm pack friendly.
Leave a comment on this post and I will draw a a couple of winners, one for each pattern next weekend!

See You Soon!

Just Lurking Around!

Hey all, long time no post. I have been up to my eyeballs busy for the last couple of weeks! First is my job. Been going to a few meetings and such . Then, for the big news, I am opening up a QUILT SHOP with my mother in November. We have the building, but have to wait on the people that are now in it to move out. Which isnt till November. So we have time to get inventory. But, the starting up of a new shoppe is a new one for us. So it is slow going. LOL.
Just wanted to let you know that Lynette Anderson of Lynette Anderson Designs is having a give away on her blog. So run over there and sign up. I think Monday (aussie time) is the drawing. Well, later gators!

The last few weeks have been busy ones. Went to a retreat in Indiana with some online friends--great gals! Had a blast, but it had to end too soon and I had to go back to work---booooooooooooooooo--hisssssssssssssssssss. No fun, but a girl has to supply her habit(s). Bought lots of things, and will share those with you later too.

Bedtime--nite, nite!

Weekend!

Went to an auction today and got some things. Brought home alot of stuff for $39. I got 2 washtubs on stands, silverware, wood drying rack, 2 magazine racks, white with red trim enamel chamber pot, and a white wall cabinet. I wanted a very prim library table, but didnt get it. DARN! Oh well, there will be other things i want just as much. Just wanted to let you know that ange at The Country Cellar is having a give away today. After, the auction I went to my parents and caught a snooze on the couch. Came home fixed supper for the dh and ds. Now we are watching a movie--Spiderman 3, and ds is sleeping--he has to work in the early AM. So dh and I are having some down time.
I sent a quilt off to be quilted by Cotie! She is fantastic at quilting, and good prices. Check her out! This quilt is for a friend mother whose house burnt down. The top was donated to me, and I got the backing together. It is pieced florals. I will post a pic when I get it back. Will also try to post my treasures from the auction today. Later gators.

Final Count of Quilt A Thon

Once again, thanks Judy L @ Patchwork Times. Thanks for getting my pa tootie in gear this weekend. If I had not been visiting your blog, I am sure I would have sit in front of the TV thinking about all of the things I could be doing! LOL. My fav past time. Anywho! Here is what I finally accomplished as of 9:50 P.M.:

1. Finished the boy charity flimsy, and I got the flannel back sewn together (using left over bits and pieces of flannel that have been around for ages). This is ready to be put on moms quilter at the end of this week and begin life as a quilt!

2. While finding flannel for boy charity quilt, I decided I needed to widdle down my flannel tub. E-gads, I think the fabric in there propagated (sp?)--LOL. I got 12- twelve inch blocks finished, and 8 more over halfway finished. If there is time this week after work, I will try to get that top together! Oh, the freedom this brings!

3. Out of other left over flannel projects, I have started blocks for a baby quilt--still just blocks! And, I have sewn 6 nine inch flannel blocks into a rectangle--thinking pillowcase here, or dog bed.

Sorry no pics, just too pooped to do that. Well, better go in and chat with hubby before heading off to bed. This has been fun! And, it has been fun to read about all of your adventures too!
